Opioid Certification Staff and NOTCA Board Members

Mr. Gary K. Byrd, M.Ed., MAC, CCS, CAMS - NOTCA  National Training Director
Gary K. Byrd is President and CEO of the Anger Management Institute and High Impact Training and Counseling services with offices in Atlanta and Smyrna, GA.  Mr. Byrd received his undergraduate degree from the University of South Carolina and his Master of Education in Guidance and Counseling from West Georgia State University.  Mr. Byrd is a Certified as a Master Addiction Counselor, a Certified Clinical Supervisor, a Certified Grief Specialist and a Certified Anger Management Specialist.  Mr. Byrd's organizations provide anger management counseling, substance abuse counseling, family counseling, couples counseling, and coaching services for the worried well.    

Mr. Byrd is the author of three participant manuals: Choice-Based Anger Control Manual for Adults, ACT Right anger management manual for teens, and a domestic violence participant manual.  

Mr. Byrd conducts numerous seminars throughout the United States; he recently completed Anger Management Certification training for the Veterans Administration. Mr. Byrd is an expert in addictive disorders and their treatments.


Ali McCorkleAli McCorkle currently serves as the Program Director for DM & ADR, Inc. in Athens, GA, where she has worked for the past 9 years.  This program was the first private opiate treatment program in Georgia to receive accreditation from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. Ms. McCorkle holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Georgia and a Master of Arts in Health Psychology and Behavioral Medicine.  She is an active participant in the GA HIV Early Intervention Services program and holds a Certified Opioid Treatment Clinical Supervisor certification through NOTCA, Inc.  Ms. McCorkle is a current board member of the Opioid Treatment Providers of Georgia. She also serves as the MIS Coordinator and trainer for the National Opioid Treatment Clinicians Association.


Donnie Harris, BS, ICADC, CACII, CCS. Mr. Harris has been an Education Provider with the Georgia Addiction Counselors Association since March 2008. He holds Certifications as Clinical Supervisor, Addictions, and Alcohol and other Drug Abuse Counselor. He is a graduate of North Carolina Central University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. Currently a student of Argosy University-Atlanta Master of Community Counseling Program, and is on track for graduation in spring 2011.

Mr. Harris is a Mental Health Clinician and HIV-AIDS Early Interventions Specialist and Educator at the Grady Health Systems’ Florida Hall Adult Outpatient Psychiatry Program providing services for the clinic’s co-occurring population.

He and his wife, Mrs. Theresa Houston-Harris, also are in private practice as service providers with the State of Georgia’s Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities’ DUI Multiple Offenders (DUI/MOP), and Intensive Family Interventions (IFI) Child and Adolescent Substance Abuse Programs respectfully. Mr. Harris’ clinical expertise spans over 15 years of providing substance abuse and mental health services, specializing in empowering women, men, children and families.


Bob CartyBob Carty graduated from the James Rumsey School of Nursing in 1990 and Mellon University with a degree in Psychology in 1994. He is presently serving his second term on NOCTA’s Ethics Committee. Bob is a former Regional Training Director for a long distance marketing firm, Project Head Start Volunteer, Emergency Disaster Remediation Volunteer Coordinator, and Mental Health Nurse. Bob also holds certifications in Grant Writing, CPR Instruction, and Strip Mine Reclamation and is a Certified Opioid Treatment Nurse. He is a recipient of the Dale Carnegie Human Relations Award and participated in The President’s Project for Addiction Counselor Training. He resides in Rossville, Georgia, with his wife Suzanne. They have four grown children and a grandson. He is currently employed at Northwest Georgia Treatment Center as a counselor.


Tamisha RogersTamisha Rogers’ professional experience includes over 11 years of service in the helping profession. She is an Associate License Professional Counselor, Certified Addiction Counselor II, Certified Master Opioid Treatment Clinician, and a Certified Anger Management Facilitator. Tamisha is also a treatment provider for DUI Invention Program of Georgia. Since her beginning, she has held a variety of positions such home counselor, case manager, clinical supervisor, counselor II, crisis intake counselor, and anger management facilitator (just to name a few) and has worked in a number of treatment settings providing services to both adolescents and adults.

Mrs. Rogers graduated from Georgia Southern University with a Bachelor of Science in Justice Studies and Capella University with a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology. Mrs. Rogers is dually trained in mental health and currently pursuing her desire to become a License Professional Counselor.


NOTCA LogoThe National Opioid Treatment Clinicians Association (NOTCA) was established in 1999 by the Georgia Methadone Providers Coalition (GMPC) to review and authenticate clinical competency, by a credentialing process, for opioid treatment counselors, supervisors and nurses. October 2007, NOTCA was established as an independent non-profit organization.
